DME was founded as an association, DME e.V., in 2003 in Bonn; the work is continued today by DME GmbH. DME is founder-led and draws on a network of associated independent experts, combining deep technical knowledge of membrane and thermal desalination with commercial and financing expertise, serving clients in more than 40 countries.
